Lifting as We Climb: Still Ain’t Satisfied

Lifting as We Climb Part One: Still Ain’t Satisfied

November 23 & 24 | Mount St. Joseph University

Four waves of feminism, and we Still Ain’t Satisfied. Join MUSE this season to explore the triumphs and struggles of feminism throughout history. From first-wave feminism focusing on overturning legal inequalities to the fourth-wave's emphasis on intersectionality and body positivity, part one of the two concert series features feminist and social justice songs that echo the spirit of perseverance and change, coupled with the stories of why these songs need to exist in the first place.

Repertoire includes some MUSE favorites, such as Breaths, Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody, and Simply Love, interwoven with new to MUSE works such as No Fairytale Here, Keep Marchin’ from Suffs, and Still Ain’t Satisfied, and a revival of recently performed peices, like I Wait, and Set Myself Free.

Saturday, November 23 | 7:00 (with ASL interpretation)

Lifting as We Climb Part Two: How We Start Again

with Ayo Awosika

April 26, 2025 | Carnegie Theatre, Covington KY

After reflecting on the missed opportunities from the past four waves, we wonder How We Start Again. What would an ideal world look like? And, most importantly, who was excluded in the past waves of feminism? Featuring a new commission by Ayo Awosika, MUSE’s Spring concert looks to inspire a new generation of artist-activists and reignite the flame of those whose hope may have dwindled. Together, we can create a future where everyone’s voice is heard and valued.
